In addition to teaching intermediate and advanced Italian language courses, my teaching and research interests span a broad range of topics. I specialize in Medieval and Renaissance Italian literature, with particular focus on authors such as Dante, Boccaccio, Ariosto, and Machiavelli. I also teach courses on Italian children's literature—including traditional tales, Collodi, De Amicis, Buzzati, and Ferrante—as well as Italian theater and the historical novel, especially the works of Manzoni.
As a comparatist, I design and teach interdisciplinary courses that explore literary works from across the globe, organized around shared themes such as crime fiction, epic and heroic narratives, metadrama, magical realism, and the intersection of food and literature. My goal as an educator is to convey the enduring relevance of literature and to help students recognize the power of creativity—regardless of their academic focus or future career paths.
