Course Proposal (New Course)

STOP

Before submitting this request form, you must discuss the potential new course with the applicable Section Head (based on the proposed course subject code) and any other faculty in the department who teach similar content. You must get their pre-approval and assurance that the proposed new course:
  • does not duplicate an existing course,
  • aligns within the scope/goals of the course subject code and the existing courses within it,
  • aligns with any pre-existing course numbering structures within the particular course subject code,
  • and is designed in a way that multiple faculty in the department could offer the course.

ALSO - If a particular section would like to create a batch of new courses, please ensure that the Section Head has emailed a complete list of courses being proposed to Alyssa Simons. Then, have one or more faculty submit the individual new course requests. We will wait until we receive all requests on the original list before routing them as a batch for review and approval within the department.

Once you have support from the applicable Section Head and other relevant faculty, carefully fill out the form below. Be sure to refer to our current Course Catalog to ensure the course number is not already in use. Please also note that once a course is "end-termed" (discontinued), we cannot use that same course number for a new course for at least three years. Contact Alyssa Simons if you have any questions about the course elements, terminology, implications of specific choices or a list of available course numbers within a specific range.
