Undergraduate Program - Minor Information

Getting a minor in Literature is easy!

First, select the minor in literature you would like to pursue.

Next, follow these steps:

  1. Take a few classes towards your minor. Please do not declare your minor until you have completed at least 3 courses.
  2. Take all of your literature courses to be applied to the minor for letter grades. You must get a grade of C- or better. Four of the seven courses must be taken at UCSD.
  3. Get a minor petition from your college.
  4. Fill out the petition, listing your lower-division and upper- division courses separately.
  5. Take the petition to a faculty advisor in your minor section for their signature. Drop in during his or her office hours, which are always listed on the bulletin board just outside of the Literature Undergraduate Office.
  6. Drop off the petition (signed by the faculty advisor) at the Literature Undergraduate Office.
Once we have your petition, we will have our Director of Undergraduate Studies sign it, and then we will forward it to your college. Allow 2-3 weeks and check the status of the petition on TritonLink, or with your college.
