Secondary School English Teaching The Literature department offers an excellent background for teaching English/ESL in secondary schools. Suggested majors include Literatures in English, Literatures of the World, or Literature/Writing. If you are interested in earning a California teaching credential at UCSD, contact Education Studies for information about the prerequisite and professional preparation requirements. It is highly recommended that you consult the EDS and the Literature department early in your academic career to help plan an appropriate major curriculum.
