Professor of Comparative/French Literature & Film Studies: Psychoanalysis (from Freud and Lacan to the present); Cinema (analysis, history, æsthetics); Semiotics (Peirce to Greimas); Applied Semiotics (art, narratology, digital special f/x); history of æsthetics; French philosophy (phenomenology, structuralism, postmodernism)

Cohen’s research deals with psychoanalysis, the semiotics of the filmic image through art history, and the digital age. He has published 90-odd scholarly research articles (cf. sample recent "pubs" below) and presented 230 papers around the world.
