Faculty, Professor, Visiting Professor or Visiting Scholar affiliate
and would like to apply for an Email account. (check box) |
(2) Literature Computer Room Access:
The Literature computer room is intended for those users who already know how to use a Mac or PC and the word
processing /internet software that is already installed.
| ________ |
I would like to use the
Literature computer room. I have read and understand the computer room use rules listed
below. (check box) |
| |
Code assigned (to be filled out by
Literature): ________________________________________________ |
Computer Room Use Rules:
- Each person is assigned his/her own password-- do not give out your password to anyone or allow anyone else access to the
room. Passwords used by more than one person will be removed from the omnilock
system. Please leave the computer room door closed.
- No Food, No Drink, No Exceptions!
- Computers and printers occasionally need to be
repaired -- you should familiarize yourself now with the location of ACS computer labs on
campus and purchase a laser printer
account. The department cannot be held responsible if hardware needs to be repaired.
- Printing is no longer free. If you wish to use the Computer Room
Printers you must purchase a PaperCut Printer Card. Instructions are on the
bulletin boards and at
http://literature.ucsd.edu/compinfo/papercut/. The PaperCut Card
system is "as is". We will not provide refunds for lost cards, unused
balance, etc. This is our last chance at printing in the computer room. If
maintaining the system is too labor intensive the printers will be removed.
- The Literature Department is currently providing paper for the PaperCut
NG system, however, we will be keeping track of how much paper is being
used, and we will review these numbers against the number of print
jobs recorded. If there is a big discrepancy we will remove the paper
and users will need to provide their own paper. If you wish to save
any documents you must supply your own external harddrive/thumb dirve/blank
CD or DVD.
- Do not disconnect ANY of the equipment (including but not limited to
cords, keyboards, cabling). Shut down the computer when you are done
(regardless of how you found it) - leave the printers on.
- If you are the last person to leave the room turn off
the lights and close the windows and blinds before you leave.
- When others are waiting, please limit your time to 1
hour. - those working on materials for class room instruction have priority.
Yes, the XP virtual machines are slow. The are the best that we could
provide with the funds provided.
- Please assist us in continuing to offer a convenient
place for Literature Academic Computing by taking care of all the equipment --- if any
equipment breaks or is stolen, we will not be able to replace it.
