I am a student. How do I get a UCSD email account?

You can register yourself online

I am a Literature Faculty/Non-Senate Faculty, Visiting Scholar or non-student Tutor. How do I get a UCSD email account?

After your appointment begins please contact Deborah Morrow Yu by email. She will need to know the following information:

  1. When does your appointment begin?

  2. Do you want a maibox on the UCSD mail server (you will need to reconfigure your email client for this account, or use Outlook on the Web), or have a @ucsd.edu email address that automatically forwards to another email account (recommended for appointments that are less than one year).

I am a ladder-rank faculty member and I need to borrow an iPAD or laptop for instruction!

We have two iPAD 3s and one PC and one Apple laptop available for checkout**. If you checkout an iPAD or laptop you are responsible for the equipment if it is is lost or damaged. Equipment is reserved and checked out for one business day only. Equipment is not available for checkout on a weekly basis. Contact Deborah Morrow Yu with any checkout requests or questions.

Please note: iPads are checked out without power cables. Please request checkout at least 24 hours in advanced so the iPad can be charged to 100%.

** the laptops are not "ready" yet (estimated ready time: April 2013).

I am an Associate-In and I need to use the Instruction Tools to check my class lists and contact students.

Unfortunately, Associate-Ins cannot have use the Instruction Tools. Please check with the Undergraduate Office for a copy of your class list.

I am a Visiting Professor, Lecturer, Affiliated Faculty and I need to use the Instruction Toolbox to check my class lists, class enrollments and contact students via email.

After your appointment begins and you have been assigned a UCSD email address (see second Question above) carefully read over our Single Sign-On page for detailed information on how to get a Single Sign-on account. The Instruction Toolbox can be found on Blink's home page.  You also view the enrollment information by checking the UCSD Schedule of Classes without a Single Sign-on account. 

I am a Visiting Professor, Lecturer, Affiliated Faculty and I need a web site to post syllabi, handouts and add a dicussion board.

After your appointment begins and you have been assigned a UCSD email address (see second Question above) you can sign up for a Triton Education (TED) account from the Academic Computing and Media Services Office: To get started go to: http://acms.ucsd.edu/units/iwdc/faculty.html. First you request a TED account, then you can upload materials, and finally students are added to the course.

I am an instructor and I need to assign grades with the UCSD eGrades program.

  1. After your appointment begins and you have been assigned a UCSD email address (see second Question above) carefully read over our Single Sign-On page for detailed information on how to get a Single Sign-on account.

  2. Please review the Electronic Grades page on Blink

  3. Please review the eGrades Tips and FAQ

  4. Please review the UCSD Grading System

  5. Please check the Campus Registrar's office website for scheduled training sessions. The Literature Department also arranged for an in-house egrades training session on December 10, 2012 in the deCerteau room from 12:00-1:00 which was announced to everyone via email and our website.

I am a TA and I need to assign grades (as an authorized grader) with the UCSD eGrades program.

  1. As a studnet yous should have been assigned a UCSD email address. Carefully read over our Single Sign-On page for detailed information on how to get a UCSD Single Sign-on account.

  2. Please inform the instructor for the class that you are TA'ing for that you have signed up for Single Sign-on account so the Instructor can add you to eGrades as an authorized grader.

New Instructors:
Sign up for SSO ASAP


You will need a Single Sign-On (SSO) account to check class lists, email students, sign up for TED, and submit egrades. To avoid problems, please sign up for Single Sign-On account ASAP after your appointment has been entered in the Payroll system (so please sign your employment paperwork early!).If you haven't signed up for SSO for egrades, and have to turn in grades, you will need to sign up for SSO, then wait for an overnight "refresh" before you can use eGrades.
