Barracuda Spam Appliance

The Barracuda Spam Appliance is a spam/virus filter that scans each message, and, based on a heuristic algorithm rates each message for the probability that it is spam.

Every day you will receive a message at 12:00 noon in your inbox reporting on what messages in the last 24 hours have been quarantined and need your review. This report is called the "Spam Quarantine Summary". There will be a "click here" link at the bottom of the email next to "To view your entire quarantine inbox or manage your preferences".

This link is valid for 24 hours.

The link will launch your default internet browser and log you in to the Barracuda Spam Appliance. You will see two tabs: "Quarantine Inbox" and "Preferences"

Quarantine Inbox Tab - Each quarantined message is listed and there are buttons with possible actions:

  • Deliver: Delivers the message to your email inbox
  • Whitelist: Adds the select message to your whitlelist so all future emails form this sender are not quarantined unless the message contains a virus
  • Whitelist/Not Spam: Adds the select message to your whitlelist and notifies the Barracuda Spam Appliance that you do not consider any messages from this address to be spam (this information is collected an analyzed by Barracuda)
  • Delete Action: Deletes the message from your quarantined list
  • Classify as Spam: Tell the Barracuda Spam Appliance you consider this messages to be spam (this information is collected an analyzed by Barracuda)
  • Classify as Not Spam: Tell the Barracuda Spam Appliance you& consider this messages to be spam (this information is collected an analyzed by Barracuda)
